Because it occurred to me this morning that nobody had made the mandatory David Foster Wallace reference on that thread, but now I can't find it. I think it's recent enough that comments should still be open.
I've put footnotes in comments before. <sup>*</sup> gets you a superscripted asterisk like so*. Then you type the note at the end of your comment, and Bob's your uncle.
This is awfully non sequiturish, but that reminds me of a line ("You know what? This isn't a truism at all.") from what I maintain is the funniest thing ever posted at McSweeney's.
