Re: Cover Charge

I'll just leave this in this thread, I guess.

You have heard it said that the bird is the word, but I say to you, the LORD your god is the word.

I've heard that Christian Rock contracts are the worst music contracts. Hip-hop contracts are the second-worst.

"Worst" in terms of what the artist gets, I mean.

Is this like "which came first, 'don't think twice' or 'understand your man'"?

That song is a pop music footnote!

I didn't say "stop."

He's a complicated man
No one understands him
But his Savior....

John the Baptist!

Right on.

relatedly, the peter tosh song "I am that I am" is one of my favorite songs. I know george harrison actually lost a suit arguing that "my sweet lord" was plagiarized from "he's so fine," I think? a girl band tune. it was ruled that he had done so "unconsciously" IIRC.

I demand more robot! my WASP family is correct; it's unnecessary and gauche to have feelings, especially feelings about your inner child. that is right out. of course they all do tend to drink themselves to death, while wearing pants with whales on them. or those Nantucket pants that come red but are supposed to be pink already. I think there's a niche market there for pre-aging. just wearing those jack rogers sandals from palm beach is making me feel fewer emotions. I'll just wear vintage lilly pulitzer all week and see if it helps.

"Hang Me Up to Dry" seems to use a guitar riff similar to "My Sharona".

And there's a Guadalcanal Diary song that's got a riff from Black Sabbath in it, I swear. But you knew that didn't you?

1: the LORD your god is the word.

I am your Lord Bob, reffineb. (No, not McManus... and no need to bow, I hate that formality shit.)

13: feeling less suicidal nervous like an animal ready to gnaw its leg off to escape a trap after the AAmtg

Outstanding.

14: I demand more robot!

You should do the funky robot; it seems to be such a crowd pleaser.

There was a Superman comic, back in the 90s I think, in which the super-genius villain decided to create an army of clones of himself. If just one of him was enough to give the Man of Steel a hard time, he reckoned, two thousand of him, working as a team, should be able to crush him without even trying.

Unfortunately, due to a malfunction in the cloning tanks, the duplicate villains were born - or rather decanted - much smaller than the original.

The villain ordered that they should be discarded - thrown out of the lab and left to fend for themselves.

"Don't you feel any sense of responsibility towards them at all?" enquired one of the villain's anguished henchmen.

"De Mini-Mes non curat Lex," came the reply.

I'm hoping to goad nosflow into responding in kind, in a sort of "WHOEVER WINS, WE LOSE" scenario.
