Re: Tuesday

The Sinclair piece is disturbing. I was looking forward to a tremendous Trump backlash occurring over the next few years, but it turns out that [Trump is great, your viscera have been lying to you all along, sincerely Sinclair].

Having my fate depend on people who watched regular local TV news was bad enough.

I'm trying to be optimistic about KY getting an effective strike going but with the legislature out of session and most of the state on spring break, the momentum from yesterday's event is clunky at best. Our DSA and a few people from the Louisville chapter staffed a table with water/juice/granola bars/muffins/chips/sandwiches at the statehouse yesterday, which was exhausting but exhilarating and appreciated. A local teacher dropped off two bags of cheeseburgers her sister who teaches in WV had asked her to buy because she knows she comfort hot food brings. Being so close to WV is inspiring the leaders and giving a template to the less-sure but we don't have unions like they do and I think that's going to be the sticking point. We'll see.

On topic because it's still Tuesday: If I understand this correctly, we're now on round 3 of the trade war. Trump tariffed China, China tariffed back, and Trump tariffed China again. Is there any way for China to tariff back that hurts corn prices for my cousins who voted for Trump without hurting corn prices for my relatives who didn't?

I am delighted at the idea that Trump tariffs will hurt almond prices. Between ag tariffs and worker shortages, Trump will do more to threaten red California farmers than anything I could accomplish with my preferred water policies.

I don't know whether ag is surprised by this, but if they are, I can't think why.

What if you wrote your preferred water policies on their bathroom mirrors in blood?

I am literally trying to sell my tiny inherited interest in a corn farm right now. Screw you Trump, think of salt of the earth working people like me!

Financial interest or intellectual?

You can have a sexual interest in a corn farm, but you probably can't inherit it.

On the plus side, the Wisconsin Supreme Court election went very well.

Trump pulling troops out of Syria: Reasonable recognition that he's lost to Assad or blackmail from the Pee Tape?

Anyway, America was never really engaged against Assad. It was engaged against IS.

Trump is also sending the National Guard to the border immediately. I wonder who has to figure out which units and how "immediately" they're going to pull them away from their regular jobs and families.

If anyone wants to contribute to a strike fund for KY teachers, here you go. I can vouch for the people running it because I'm one.
