AB

Thanks, LB. We had a very nice time. AB was rather skeptical of meeting a "Lizardbreath," and finds the whole Unfogged thing odd, but we had a lovely time. Both children sound asleep.

I'll link the review* when it comes out.

Apologies for not showing; my schmoozefest with fellow corporate pigfucker types went much later than I had hoped. Plus I suck. But the good news is that of the people there whose political leanings I had prior knowledge of, or that revealed themselves through the inevitable, but carefully coded political talk, I counted 6 for Obama*, 1 McCain and 1 "undecided". Plus 4 furriners who will be casting their Obama votes as Mickey Mouse and Duran Duran tomorrow (Thanks ACORN!).

*So of course we had a great time in the restaurant, talkin' about profits, father raping, coƶpting the progressive agenda, all kinds of groovy things that we was talking about in the restaurant.

This would be a good time to reiterate that I am angling for minimeetup in LA this Friday evening. So far there are four to five of us, which seems good enough unless I hear that a bunch can do it some other time.

KLK and I had a wonderful time --- and she feels no need to humor me about my imaginary Internet friends, so...

10: Iris demonstrated the memory for verse and the flair for dramatic timing which show the makings of a true rhapsode.
Also, she and her brother were both cute as buttons.

Speaking of meetups, was anything finalized about a DC meetup tonight? I know I suggested Timberlake's a month ago or whenever we talked about it, but since then my housemate invited me and some other friends to a place called Hawk & Dove on Pennsylvania Ave., and my computer wasn't working for most of last week so I couldn't easily check...

Sorry to ditch the other Unfogged DCers. But on the other hand, Hawk & Dove looks like it'll be a nice place and my roommate says he can almost guarantee booth space, so if anyone want to join us (or beat me up for changing plans at the last minute) I'll get there around 6 p.m., in a blue shirt and red-and-white striped tie...

24 what a strange unsympathetic comments thread is that
i recalled a proverb or maybe it was a soc slogan
'a man is a friend, comrade and brother to another man'
though i always think man in English has pretty narrow meaning maybe should be human in translation, it's chelovek, hito and khun in the languages i know, then the words take adjectives and specify male or femaleness

It's raining in NC. Normally, that would favor the GOP by depressing turnout. However, with Obama have banked a big lead during early voting, it might be just the opposite this time.

Pittsburgh - earthly paradise (as a native son perhaps I am biased). To paraphrase Frost on this day of days:

"It's restful to arrive at a decision,
And restful just to think about Pittsburgh.
At present I am living in Alexandria."

Surprisingly quiet at my polling place this AM, I was voter #56 at 7:40. Got my neighborhood as my second batch* to canvass, so popped in the house to piss and do a quick obsessive cruise through the tubes looking for data to keep from being incapacitated by my recurring Post-Traumatic Election Loss Disorder (so someone do what PGDS says in 34).

*Got halfway through my first, but then got booted out of a big apartment complex where the rest were. Back at the office we found a resident there who will try to stealth them in. So unpleasant when tacky things like elections intrude on the serenity of the Xxxx Luxury Apartments.

Predictions of economic doom due to this or that regulation are almost always overstated. Gambling is just about the most regressive form of economic activity in existence anyway, and even if you do want gambling, why make it dependent on dogs?

Pig racing, like at the county fair. And to make it really interesting, I'll bet Emerson would let you use his hogs. Of course, instead of an electrified rabbit for them to chase you would have to release a Republican. Just don't watch the end. It gets messy.
