I'm saddened that I can't watch this from my current location, but I feel the urge (1) to wish both HP and heebie a happy day and (2) to highlight that 419 is a prime number, which has probably not escaped heebie's notice.

Is this supposed to have cosmic significance of some sort? I've never heard of it before. One of my kids is prime and the other isn't.

10: clearly, the wrong answer. Everyone likes prime numbers, and lots of people already seem to think they've got some sort of weird cosmic significance all by themselves. So you should obviously make up some cosmic significance supposedly tied to prime number birthdays, put it in a book, profit.

Be sure to attribute it to an ancient culture, though. (It doesn't really matter which one.) No one will believe it if it's just coming from Stanley the Drummer.

The ancient Egyptians believed that baby boys born on days that are prime number would grow up to be unusually well endowed. (This despite their not having a Roman calendar system, nor a modern conception of "prime numbers".)

The place at where I am has a "coffee condiments" sign designating the sugar and milk* area. Though those seem to fall under the actual definition of "condiments," this troubles me.

*Technically, the white sugar/Sugar in the Raw/Splenda/Sweet-n-Low/Equal and skim milk/half-n-half/soy milk area.

I was riding in the car recently with a friend, when I wondered aloud, "How often do you think semi-trucks are driving around empty? At least some of the time for sure, right?" To which she responded, "Do you say these things out loud when you're alone, or do you just think them?" I fessed up: it's often aloud, even when flying solo.

OT:

I know I'm late to the bandwagon, but these kale chips are awesome. If you like cabbagey stuff at all, they're ethereally light and crispy. We just ate the ones I made, but now I want to figure out how to use them as crunchy, delicate garnish on stuff. Maybe float them on soup?

I don't know how long they'd stay crunchy before going limp in soup, though. What else needs a sprinkling of crunchy stuff -- top mashed potatoes with them? An after-baking topping on mac and cheese?

HP is adorable - happy birthday. She also looks like she's having a total blast. Could it be that for many of us, the happiest, most carefree time of our life was when we were one year old? And we can't even remember it! Oh, the humanity.

44: When I float stuff on soup, I often do it bit by bit. Toss in a crunch. Stir for a few seconds. Scoop up. Repeat. (I'm severely work-avoiding when I'm this far into thinking about my soup-eating habits.)

No time at all. Just leaving them on the baking tray with oil will turn them soggy in short order. I wholeheartedly agree about the awesomeness of kale chips, though. Possibly the best thing I've learned from Unfogged this year.

42, 47: I was soooo skeptical when I first saw them mentioned and now I'm mad at myself for waiting close to a year to try them. But at least I (and others) got to pass the awesomeness around.

I confess, however, that nothing could be more awesome than baby Hawaiian Punch. So adorable. I love the squeals of laughter.

We liked the kale chips too. Although there seems to be some debate about when you should put the salt on? I burnt mine a bit, but still most of them didn't make it off the tray and were just shovelled into mouths. I went shopping today but there was no kale.

52: I think you'd want a thick, tough green. I haven't tried it with anything but kale, but I bet spinach would just dry up and crumble to dust instead of turning to a crunchy thing. Chard, maybe, arugula, I would guess not.

34: I think "condiments" is a common term for this in the coffee business. I often have to get cambros of coffee (ie, large prepared plastic containers of hot coffee) from Peet's or Starbucks for events, and all the sugar, sweetener, milk, creamer, etc, are always referred to as condiments by the stores. But yes the term takes some getting used to in this context.

That's not even three months old..." I'd even half-composed a comment to this effect, when I looked again and saw that the video was labeled "11 Months". "Damn, all that puzzling for nothing. I really need another cup of coffee. I feel sorry for anyone who's paying for my work today." And then I forgot all about the whole thing. Until now, when I see that I wasn't confused, you just cheated. This is sickening.
