A little slower and a step or two lower, and he could be doing the voiceover for one of those fear-mongering political attack ads. That there's a fine line between folksiness and menace is nothing new, certainly.

Ugh, that ad made my skin crawl. Maybe it was the "We'll help ya pay for it" stuff. Dude, if it's a sale, just call it that. Don't act like you're doing something for me that is going to make me feel I have to go out behind the woodshed with you later.

This has always bugged me about these ads. Not even a very good sale at that. But now, with some sales tax over 10% it get's one's attention.
