Re: Rockin' and a-reelin', Barbara Ann

"Don Senor" would be a funnier name.

This is so fucking stupid. Romney was on one of the Sunday talk shows this morning saying absolutely nothing of substance: 'Israel obviously has the right to defend itself.' 'As President, my foreign policy objectives would be to, um, take careful stock of every situation while taking nothing off the table, observing our historic alliances, noting that American military might is best used as a backup strength, just like Ronald Reagan, who accomplished great things with very little actual on-the-ground engagement.'

This is no different from Obama's approach; it's billed by the talking heads as a walk-back from what the advisor said, or insinuated.

Also, wtf Washington Post: "muscular"?

Nothing's going to dissuade Iran from developing a nuclear deterrent better than threatening to attack them.

Dan Senor . An old Iraq/PNAC/AIPAC hand. Seeing him as a top advisor to Romney is more disturbing than anything actually said.

It's way worse than that.

Oh great. Let's get these people on the network television news, which is the only place average Americans actually hear about things.

Romney's a deeply disturbing candidate on any number of fronts; nearly every person-on-the-street interview I've seen or heard tells me that the average voter has no idea.

By the way, Antonin Scalia was on Fox News Sunday this morning. It was odd. Anyone interested might want to take a look.

On reflection, I imagine this has been mentioned everywhere.

7: Hmm, he was on not too long ago; I wonder if this is a continuation of that interview (oops, turns out he was on Piers Morgan spewing crap about Bush v. Gore).

I suppose we might as well have sitting SC justices doing TV publicity at this point.

We do have exactly that. Apparently Ginsburg was on some other show. Scalia is ostensibly on a book tour.

Parsimon, if it makes you feel any better, nothing anyone says in any venue will make any difference until after Labor Day. And even then, it's not much.

Democracy is saved by its horrible inefficiency.

Although maybe the only people paying attention are the news writers who will take this time to calcify the narratives they will fire on full blast in the fall.

Why would that make me feel any better? The level of checking out on the part of the American electorate incenses me.

If a Democrat was holding fundraisers in foreign countries Fox News would be having a conniption.
