I still owe BitchPhD three beers. Not sure how to bring that about now.

I'll just paste this in here to set the scene:

The song was recorded with some fellow singing improv students right after we finished our first 301 class session this past Wednesday. I asked for a suggestion of an animal, told our musician I'd like something soaring and anthemic, and away we went. The melody, words, moves, etc were all made up on the spot. My classmates are awesome.

You probably won't want to buy her all 15 beers at once. She probably can't drink that much.

That gave me an earworm.

13 I'm a very bad man. I read that as John Cale and was very upset but was greatly relieved to find out it wasn't him.

14, 15 - There's a NMM/Caged Heat joke to be made what Cale stands before the Lord of Song.

Wow, M/tch, nice work! We haven't always seen eye-to-eye, I guess you don't like me very much, but whatever: you are inspiring in that bit. Thanks for sharing it. I wish I had the balls to do that sort of thing.

I don't want to distract from this thread, but I wonder if we might have a post and thread about MOOCs. Scott Lemieux has a post at LGM responding to a Jon Chait piece which pooh-poohs the notion that MOOCs might could be troubling at all.

I normally like Chait, and was surprised to see this density on his part.

Possibly we could have a post on this topic. I'd normally just threadjack something else, but there's nothing appropriate.

I'm not seeing the embedded thingie in the OP, possibly because I'm using a nexus tablet. Is there a direct link to it?

That's awesome, M/tch. One of the things I like best about this place is watching people do things that are wildly far removed from my areas of expertise -- the Public Speaking thread being another recent example.

Oh, crap. I just got word that the mother of one of my best friends passed away this morning. Shit. She was on a downward trajectory, and was in hospice. I had the friend over last night: we talked for hours. I'm a crying type around death, so now I'm trying to keep back tears for him.

The girls got the chance to pet a hairy screaming armadillo again today, just in case you're looking for other options. It turns out that the fox has many tricks but the armadillo has several species, and I don't know if we can really blame Archilochus for being blind to that.

I briefly got that song out of my head thanks to the earworminess of the YYY's "Little Shadow", but now it's back. Arrgh!

hairy screaming armadillo

This is a euphemism for something horrible, isn't it? Or some stupid colorful cocktail popular with the sorority set. There's no way this is an actual animal, is what I'm saying.

Sorry, screaming hairy armadillo, not the other way around. I don't think that makes it any better or less cocktail-sounding.
