Re: Guest Post: Gyno-procto-turducken

I'm curious about why anal cancer rates seem to be on a steady climb. Presumably that's one of the things we could find out if the relevant board wasn't being such a bunch of assholes.

I always assume funding figures in, any time people are being weirdly rigid.

It's possible that it's simple authoritarianism. Also some people can be weirdly obsessive about categories and boundaries. Something related to Haidt's Purity axis, maybe.

I would think assholes would be well-informed about anal cancer.

1,3: More anal sex=more HPV=more anal cancer? I don't know if any of the steps in that hold up, but it seems like a possibility.

Has the tidal wave of teen butt-chugging been accompanied by butt-puffing?

Given that these anal scopes are specifically targeted by the board (according to the article), I agree that there must be some kind of funding/market competition issue.

I'm curious about rah restrictions on 'vanity' hormone therapy, though. The few times that my gyno has brought up potential hormone issues with me, she's always suggested that I go see some other kind of specialist (and I've always just ignored the whole suggestion).
