I always thought it was a shame that Bill Cosby fired Lisa Bonet after Angel Hair.

Remember those videos comparing his speed and acuity in gubernatorial debates vs. 2004? Now I'm wondering if we're going to learn in 20 years he had mild Alzheimer's in office.

There are a lot of photos - especially from later in his presidency - when he looked pretty drunk, so I'm guessing it's not unlikely that he was drunk there. I always assumed he spent a good portion of his presidency drunk, honestly, given the amount of 'gathering brush', random scrapes and bruises and so on. And for all that he supposedly refrained from drinking there are enough cases where he was very clearly having at least one drink that I don't buy that that was actually true.

Yeah, laughing at a drunk guy is a cheap shot. I didn't honestly think he was actually drunk, just looking as if he were, which was why I thought it was funny. If he's really drunk, that's just sad.

Yeah, I guess I'm not too enthused about laughing at a guy who may or may not be drunk. If he's drunk, that's kind of sad, but mostly, in all honesty, I probably just don't even care.

(And it looks like I just lost my passport on a flight from Dublin to Newark. Well, fucketty. "Your Canadian passport is a valuable document." Looks like I need the signature of a respectable Canuckistani citizen, all duly notarized, in order to receive a replacement. Yeah, you liberal Americans think Canada is all fun and games and free health care, but when's the last time you had to deal with the Canadian bureaucracy, eh? it's not pretty, believe you me, and it's not rational either.)

Can't you just show them the Canadian flag you inevitably have sewn into your backpack?

I have never, ever, travelled with a maple leaf on my backpack. Jesus Christ, Halford, that's so tacky, and so predictable. I am (almost) offended at the very suggestion.

The backpack would just be redundant, what with the maple leaf neck tattoo.

I am completely comfortable making fun of drunk people, up to but not past alcoholics who can hold a job and are not in any immediate danger of liver failure, but I really don't find the Gawker pictures very convincing. My face flushes easily and I'm very clumsy. There would be dozens of pictures of me looking like that if anybody combed through the security tapes at Arby's and I wouldn't have had a drop to drink in 3/4th of them.

I don't think I'd quite appreciated the genius of that thing before. On a first glance it seemed clever but I got the joke and was done (and Barbie-based satires are usually pretty tedious). But the attention to detail is actually uncanny, and it gets a fuck of a lot of mileage from the fact that Barbie/Ken is the aesthetic a lot of people aspire to in selfies.

I like these. Not sure they qualify as "satire" in the same sense, though.

But I did have more or less the same reaction to that Instagram account. I saw it linked a bunch on FB a few weeks ago and found it mildly amusing, but didn't look closely until today. I'm not familiar enough with the sort of accounts it's satirizing to totally appreciate it, I think, but I did notice the attention to detail especially in the hashtags.
