Re: Meet up! LA

1

Your brother works 5 minutes away from where I live!

Unfortunately, I will be in NYC that week.

I won't be in LA, but I followed your link:

Previously a night club with an infamous reputation, The Hermosillo now serves craft beer, 30 wines by the glass, and creative bar food.

I want more details about the infamous reputation.

It used to serve mass-market beer and 28 wines by the glass. Tough crowd.

You do?

Yeah, I moved to LA in February

Oh I'm bummed to miss it, but I'll be out of town. I'm a frequent guest at both your brother's establishments, which are just a few blocks from my house.

Noooooooooo to updates so far about availability, though they mean I'll have to come back someday! I've already ascertained off-blog that others will be around, at least.

I was in LA until yesterday, but now I too am in NYC. Alas. Have a great time, though. (See the Griffith Park Observatory! Jupiter is visible through the twelve-inch refractor from after dark to about 2300.)

In 2301, where will Jupiter go?

Anyway, Pittsburgh as a 30' reflector telescope and a 30' refractor telescope. They're in the same building.

I've seen Jupiter through the first. It turns out that sky-Jupiter isn't nearly so colorful as science magazine-Jupiter.

I should be in NY on the 24th. I will not be going to LA.

I have to be in LA for what promises to be an excruciating work thing involving clashing mastodon-sized egos but not that week, sooner than that. Alas, would really like to meet up with you Thorn! Go to luckyscent and adorn yourself with delicious smellies, visit the reproduction vintage shoe store across the street, and take interesting cross town bus rides. Also the concert hall is pretty super.

as a 30' reflector telescope and a 30' refractor telescope.
I can do one or the other, but both at once would break everyone's suspension of disbelief.

We're here and looking forward to seeing you, Thorn! Our schedule is flexible that week, though maybe we'd lean toward Tuesday the 11th, if we had our druthers.

Hey, when LA becomes our permanent abode, no one will be happier to change pseuds than I.

We all know the only reason you never updated it to Ohio was to keep from offending Moby's delicate sensibilities.

I firmly believe strandedness is in the eye of the beholder, which I guess means I was trying to be respectful of Moby's delicate sensibilities. That doesn't mean I'm gonna stop asking him for money, though.

You obviously weren't sufficiently stranded here since you were able to escape to LA. I was going to say that getting to see you in a fourth state might be a blog record for me but I'm pretty sure only a tie.

CA will be five, I think, including IN, OH, KY, and MI. That is actually kind of nuts.

Right, Detroit! Yay, you win!! Plus I've never been to any state's highest point without you. I suspect it just wouldn't be the same.

The Detroit airport has a Max and Erma's. It's just like Ohio.

We drove! Pertinent to this thread, I was going to say that was my only night off from parenting this year except I guess there were a few when Nia was in the hospital. They just didn't really feel like breaks. (I'm not uniquely whiny and overwhelmed to be this into time off, right? Having the dog boarded makes a big difference too, so it's not JUST children.)

Can we bump the NY meetup thread and add my dates. I'll be in NY from June 24 to July 14. Let's have another NYC meetup!
