Re: There's no pony.

Other good points RHC made:

- Weaponized bullshit is an important propaganda tool because it spreads mistrust.

- Refuting bullshit is often more work than it is worth.

(and I'm quoting verbatim, and RHC attributes these points to Frankfurt and others.)

Another crossover person made the point, which I paraphrase: We need to have a distinction between regular bullshit and actual, propaganda, Trump-style boldfaced lies.

1 last: Why? How is president Trump bullshitting for his wall epistemically different from developer Trump bullshitting for his condos?

From Latin epi "irrespective of" and stemically "risk of starting a nuclear war."

Got in bike accident around 5 pm. ER doc set my dislocated finger about an hour ago. Hurt like hell. Also fractured bone in elbow. While cleaning me up, they noticed that, hey, that g a s h by my eye looks pretty bad. They're planning surgery. No ETA. I'm tired.

Atossa is at a neighbor's house. We owe them big for this.

I am consistently surprised by people who don't understand Frankfurt's point. Who think that "lying" is a form of "bullshitting". And yeah, arguing with a bullshitter is a waste of time. The only viable response is to turn to their audience and go up one meta-level, arguing that the speaker is a bullshitter, and cannot be trusted with a plug nickel.

Hard to do. Hard to succeed at. Cf. Hillary Clinton and "puppet".

thanks everyone.

Surgery turned out to be 3 stitches. I've had worse for cosmetic stuff, but by the time they got around to it I was so tired that I was difficult. Finally left ER after 1 am. Got 5 hours of sleep last night: Atossa woke up around the usual time, and I couldn't get back to sleep. Percocet might help but pharmacies open at 9.

the hand in the cast is my dominant one. Other that things are great.

Yow. Dominant hand in a cast is awful, as is no painkillers yet. Aren't they supposed to send you home with a couple of pills to bridge the gap until you can get your prescription filled?

AITHMHBALATOT, I played football in junior high. We were on defense and I was either a guard or a tackle. The guy next to me (who was whichever of those two things I was not), got just smashed by the running back. His arm was broken. Not only was it his dominant arm, but it was his only arm that ended in a hand.

they told me to take a double dose of ibuprofen when i got home, and i did. Don't want to take more when percocet is on the way though.

I wouldn't be surprised if they forgot to do something they should have. It seemed disorganized.

IANAD, so google to confirm, but 'cet' means it's mixed with Tylenol, not ibuprofen, right? So no worry about double-dosing. I would take all the ibuprofen you want (within reasonable dosing limits).

I'm thinking it would be more entertaining to release the houbara first so the falcons have to work harder. The effort would also make them leaner, fiercer embodiments of perfection.

The idea is to release them first. The falcon's did not appear to be in sight of the houbara but I can't imagine they weren't seriously stressed out.

Podkayne Geebie's mother was a comment-farmer, just as her mother had been a comment-farmer, and her mother before her, all the way back to their legendary ancestress Heebie Geebie, who was Always Right. At least, that was what the Archives, patchily restored after the EMP Collapse of 2089, seemed to say. Poddy supposed she'd grow up to be a comment-farmer too - until, that is, the strange man turned up in an ekranoplan crewed by girl-ninjas and said "Get in. I need your help..."
