Re: Confession

1

When are you/we aiming for? According to the archives in the sidebar, the blog started in a February, so we're already too late for the exact date.

I'll probably show up if it's a weekend day or early weeknight in the DC area, and maybe more than that. My family has some travel planned this year, both including me and not including me and it's not all firmed up yet, so I might be the life of the party, have Cassandane and Atossa in tow, or not show up at all, depending on how things line up.

Hope it goes well and I'm able to bring them, though. Atossa's big enough to play with people, so it might actually be fun for her. Cassandane is looking hard for a new job. Hopefully she'll get something any day now and will be able to gush about it, but if not, Unfogged would essentially be a networking or at least coaching opportunity for her.

I would probably show up to something that was arranged, but I am the world's least competent/successful event planner, so not the source of energy here. But the last one was excellent.

If DC area again, I'm in-- elsewhere reasonably convenient, also in, schedule permitting. Middling energy, say a medley of side-dishes or some reserving/scoping out of possibilities, but not enough to genuinely organize (that is, head counts and proactive assessment of group sentiment) or make fabulous...

I guess I could extend to the upper Midwest if you wanted to have Unfoggedquiñera somewhere interestingly weird, like Mackinac or Beaver Island.

If we're picking useless measures of centrality across North America, we could have it at Glacier National Park, where all the major watersheds come together. Not that we have any commenters who live in the drainage basin of the Arctic.

It depends on how many hours before everybody flees the cabin.

I'd like to think that, in the event of someone running amuck at the meetup, my time-to-flight would be measured in rather smaller units than "hours".
Though that doesn't allow for the possibility of very absorbing conversations, or indeed a very large cabin.

I'm at a cabin in the woods even as I write this. However, this area is too sparsely populated for any sort of statistically significant killing spree. If I were so inclined, which I'm not (but then, I would say that, wouldn't I?).

I've never been to Pittsburgh, but would like to see it. So: DC or Pittsburgh or, of course, Hudson Bay for its drainage basin, would all suit me.

69: Yeah, looking on Amtrak's site, I can book from CVS to PGH, and it takes 14-15 hours (because of transfer/layover in DC). By car, it's around five hours.

In any event, I would like to attend this Unfogged Quince Party, but I put my likelihood of attending at a sad and historic low of 53%. If I were to attend, I'd say slight preference for Pittsburgh, as it would give me an excuse to visit Fallingwater.
