What's Quillette? The deportations having been ramping up for months. As I interpret it, Kazakhstan is trying to extract ethnic Kazakhs as the most they can do.

It's understandable that Kazakhstan might tread carefully with China. But most of the Islamic world doesn't have the PRC as a neighbor, or have significant shared ethnic populations. And this is exactly the sort of thing the US should take a stand on. Pathetic all around. Think you're right about the realpolitik, though, so maybe the winds can change quickly.

Quillette is bad.

ISTR actually Malysia wasn't cooperating with deportations.

The PRC signatories that are nor insignificant and not poor include Pakistan, the UAE, and Kuwait. Pakistan is getting significant belt and road infrastructure investment. UAE-Chinese-Saudi relations I have no idea about.

The camps are huge, they're razing mosques all over the place, and apparently putting a fair amount of pressure on expat Uighurs.

Not the hottest source.
Kazakhstan. So they hassle the guy. But Kazakhstan is a police state. If they really wanted to shut him down, they would. They're playing it down the middle.

The tweet was deleted. It was Amazon linking to a Quillette article that said Amazon's labor practices were just the bee's knees.
