I've read that if you sign up just to troll the deplorable, you get banned pretty quickly.

I don't think the world really needs an alternative to twitter, it just needs twitter to die in a fire.

I will post my local voting comment here then, Since it happened on Monday.

Just watched our Allegheny County certification meeting live. Very short and too the point. Several thousand votes in different categories set aside and not included due to ongoing lawsuits (none of these are in the results showing on the county or SoS websites, but most have been tabulated --except for ~300 challenged provisionals which have not been opened yet).

Vote was 2-1 to certify. So far in PA, seems to be Republicans are voting not to certify as a protest, but not yet heard of any whole county not certifying like Wayne in MI tried to do. But would not be surprised. There will be no "normal*" elections after this one for a long time. (But one anxiety at a time rule precludes worrying about that ...)

*For a definition of "normal" that even includes this one.

It's nutpicking-level unfairness, but there was a great series of images of people giving bad reviews to the Parler app because their passwords weren't secure enough. Freedom!

Parler is kind of scary, not because it's a new winger app, there have been plenty of those that usually abjectly failed, but because it has a plutocrat bankrolling it, and possibly smoothing the way for it behind the scenes.

I did the exact same thing with the faces. It's amazing how subtle but definitive a small change can be. Also, I have a crush on one of the frames. Feels weird.

This is not an original thought, but the Parler list of deplorables is going to be the basis of some very impressive marketing campaigns. Remember that the Moral Majority got its start because Ralph Reed understood the importance of mailing lists before any of the good guys did. If you've ever been to a charismatic evangelical show you'll understand that these guys had switched to a subscription-based model long before the rest of the media.

Those images are truly fascinating. It would be interesting to have a version where hair wasn't visible (say they're all wearing a beanie), because I think haircuts are doing a lot of the work in the "gendering" of the images.

5: They need to have some kind of numbering of the images so that we can all tag ourself with the face we have a crush on.

Election stuff:

Michigan Board just voted 3-0 (MAGA dude abstained) to certify. I listened to a lot of it. Was gratified that a number of those who commented described in detail the bad faith efforts MI legislators (did not do things that gave any substantive relief to the elections folks so every thing was rushed/a bit chaotic), poll watchers (bad faith challenges and disruptive) and the statements of Reps from Trump through MI legislators. Yhe one Rep who voted yes, was at pains to get people to say thae board did *not* have any leeway to judge results form the countied. Would hope this experience would make him examine his party affiliation.

I just read a little of Trump's PA 3d Circ briefs filed this afternoon -- but downloaded them for a friend, and so can send copies to anyone. Email is enabled.

I'm still not clear why the one thing they are complaining about in Judge Brann's order is that he didn't let them amend their complaint again to put back into contention some bullshit claims that were dropped out when the complaint was first amended. It's all the fault of that woman lawyer in Philly, apparently. (I'm not sure where the Texans fit in on that.)

Oh, and they're not trying to eliminate the votes of 6.8 million people with no evidence. They're trying to eliminate the votes of 1.5 million people with no evidence.

Oh, and it looks like Sen Feinstein reads Unfogged, and will be applying for that BART ambassador position any day. Well done, team!

Fuck, man. She said she wants to pay more attention to drought and the last thing I want is more of her attention on CA water issues. I'd rather she all the way retires.

The GSA lady letter is a perfect embodiment of the Trump era. Groveling, lying, self-pitying crap that grudgingly sort of does the bare minimum. Shut up and do your fucking job for God's sake.

I used to think that activism was hard, but calling Feinstein's office every day and saying that she should retire has been easy and rejuvenating.

How many votes do you have to throw out to make each Black voter only count as 3/5ths?

Giuliani, in 1992 regarding his loss to Dinkins in 1989: "They stole that election from me. They stole votes in the black parts of Brooklyn, and in Washington Heights. Illegal Dominican immigrants were allowed to vote in Washington Heights."

It seems quite correct that Giuliani was Trump's John the Baptist, no? Overt white reaction following a highly decent Black leader, except everyone acted like it was normal.

"Normal" is just a setting on the dryer and also a good way to describe racism in America.
