Re: Barry's in NYC

Given that if I'm not in the office, Fresh Salt, much as we all love it, is convenient for no one, let me throw out Dive Bar on 96th and Amsterdam as the location to beat. It's not terribly exciting, but it's been adequate when we've been there before. But don't let that keep anyone from suggesting someplace better.

Fresh Salt is deprecated for other reasons as well.

I'd like to go to Under the Volcano!

Sounds winning, doesn't it?

It does! And I have all sorts of pent up "haven't been to enough interesting places in the last year" feelings.

(What are we deprecating Fresh Salt for? Too many Financial District customers?)

So let's say the one I can make it to is at Under the Volcano, because everything is about me.

Nosflow - When did you move to New York?

That was years ago, before the tree crushed politicalfootball's foot or teo joined the Coast Guard.

Jackmormon and I are moving next week, so 20th-23rd is best for us as well.

Is it really appropriate to name a bar Under the Volcano? Or is the bad taste mitigated by the reverse cultural appropriation?

I am not a crackpot. 6/20-23 are probably OK for me.

Just avoid it if you're the British consul.

Yang last

Not having followed it closely, why Yang behind Scott Stringer? I had the impression that the allegations of sexual misconduct were enough of a reason to not support him.

34:. Presumably, because Stringer doesn't have a chance, and Yang does.

I don't know much about Stringer, but one needn't rank him anywhere. There are a lot of candidates, presumably some can go in spots 3 and 4.

So, if I'm reading that correctly, what you're trying to communicate is:

"Of candidates with a decent chance of winning the rank is:

Tier 1:
Wiley & Garcia

Tier 2:
nobody

Tier 3:
Yang

Do not support: Eric Adams:

With the "Yang last" implying, "Tier 2: nobody"

Man, three cocktails in an evening and I'm hung over. I blame Under the Volcano -- I tried to order a piece of cheesecake and they were out, so I had a third Manhattan instead. I used to be a much better drinker than this.
