Friend who is on the school board in the area won against a write-in challenge (~70-30%). Opposition only really developed after the primary. Has not been overtly nasty, but a still a lot of fractiousness at meetings.

She discussed quitting with her husband but they felt that would be not wise for several reasons.

3. And kidnapping is a, I dunno, well developed industry with norms there? In that context I thought abduction and confinement was more understandable. And as you say, power: "we can do this openly."
