Not much we can say about this, is there? Government treating women like property with damage to be reversed.
It is hard having much to say about it without knowledge sufficient to support some kind of specific opinion. Governmental factions/political parties that are responsible for this kind of thing, and that should lose power in favor of some preferable faction/party.
I remember a Nigerian immigrant of my acquaintance saying of a presidential election there at some point, "Imagine if the only two major candidates for president were Dick Cheney and Pat Robertson."
Yeah. This is a horrifying story, but reacting to it with "the government of this African country that I know almost nothing about is evil" seems like a bad reaction when I don't have any relevant local knowledge at all about where I could expect a better government to come from.
