The single most boring sport (ok excluding soccer, I'd rather watch billiards) is pro basketball. Each score (or stoppage thereof) means nothing in relation to the whole. That's why no meaningful statistics exist in basketball, no milestones to be reached. And given the decline in artistry of play, the game has lost the luster of its play that shone for a brief period of the 80's and 90's. One can't name one of the other 3 major sports that has lost as much entertainment value as the NBA. I can't bear to watch even a portion of the games anymore.

If you're willing to grant that during the 80's and 90's, basketball was better, then I think we can say that your problem isn't with basketball itself, but with the way it's played in today's NBA. I'll grant you that, double. I even shelled out for NBA League Pass, so I could watch just about any game all season, and I think I watched two. Regular season NBA ball is horrible. They really don't try. But, I have watched this year's playoffs, and they've been terrific. Contested, exciting, woohoo.
