Re: Among The Ruins

The amazing thing is that I think ArtButSports does all the matching from memory.

Similarly, the highest purpose of Instagram is Eggs Tyrone.

Yes! They try to explain their method from time to time, like, oh, I don't recall exactly, but have a sense of what artists/period might be a good match...and it ends up sounding more amazing.

Art But Make It Sports is also on bluesky, for people who have truly tired of Twitter.

(And if anyone here wants an invitation to bluesky, I have several. Maybe drop a message here, I'm not sure that the email address by my name is behaving nicely these days.)

7: No. It might have moved things a few points, but nothing enough to be substantively important.

It's possible that the big drop in turnout is an important sign and the weather is hiding it. I don't know how much Iowans fear the cold these days.

I had been avoiding bumming a Bluesky invite because I was curious when the hoi polloi like me would get invited. After a year or so of periodically renewing my requests, I finally did get an invite.

I made the mistake on X of following some vile people on the theory that if you want to know what's going on in the world, you need to know what people like, say, Don Jr. are saying. This was a big mistake, and my Bluesky experience has been lovely.

I think because I'm a faceless zero on Bluesky I never get offered invitations to disburse but I'm enjoying following others there, including many of you.

I can't keep track of two sets of pseuds, so I know people there that I know here. But I may not know who exactly.

Remember, read helped pick it when LB was on the attack against two-letter pseudonyms. This was before she was known to be stalking the posters.

I didn't sign up for gmail until 2007 or 2008, hotmail was basically fine until I needed a general google account for not-just-email things.

I have received likes on Bluesky from people I'm pretty sure are here, given our set of mutual, but I'm not sure who. So, uh, hi, and thanks. I'd follow you if I knew who you were. I'm under my real name there, though, so I'm also part of the two-names problem.

23: I suppose it's a little bit too identifying to just put here, but query me at my linked email and I'll let you know. Or, alternatively, let me know your handle and I'll follow you.

But there's nothing to be gained from knowing my handle. I have yet to put my first post on X or Bluesky, and have no plans to do so. I have one follower. I still consider the decay of real blogging to be tragic.

Looking up my handle, I see that I have four invite codes available. Interesting!

Because the news is so stressful, I finally broke down and bought the Civ V expansion packs so I would have something to do that wasn't going to expose me to the news.

Apparently with the expansion pack, I can't defend my city by picking "archipelago" and building only naval units.
