A couple that I gamed with on Friday were big fans - at least of the ear-wormy music. I was under the mistaken impression that it was a series, which sounded like too long a commitment, but knowing it's a movie I'll probably go into the queue somewhere.

I did see my first in theater movie... this year? In quite a while, at least. We saw the new Superman. I enjoyed it, particularly to watch with my wife who was more enthusiastic/invested in Superman comics and films going way back. (Our other friends who watched it had deeper opinions, like being annoyed about one of the villains being a hero from an alternate universe in the comics, etc., but summarized it as the director playing with their favorite obscure/offbeat characters.)

It was nice to get a non-origin story to start a new era.

Watched Kpop Demon Hunters with my kid. Liked it fine; thought the songs are catchy.

It just struck me that Kpop Demon Hunters and maybe Kpop more generally is a genre that is meant to appeal to adolescents. It is just becoming sexual, definitely non-threatening, with endless pining and spectacular dancing. It can be cheeky, but stops short of consumation.

One of my favorite Tweets said something like "I will always be angry that the Korean government launched a successful program to make Korean men internationally fuckable and the Chinese government did not."

I'm thinking of seeing The Naked Gun.

I saw KPop Demon Hunters over the course of the weekend. It was nice the heroines were portrayed as indulging unabashedly (if only in off weeks) in sloth, gluttony, and lust (though nothing below the belt). The high tailoring to KPop fans, including most songs lapsing into untranslated Korean for a line or three, gives a tiny feeling of being on the receiving end of cultural influence.

Naked Gun tonight.

I thought the target audience was 7-10 year olds.

(Not Kpop in general.)

I shouldn't be generalizing about a whole genre that I don't particularly follow, but the glimpses I have seen all seem like very non-threatening sexuality and romance. Which seems adolescent to me, but maybe that's pre-teen.

I meant this one movie in particular. I first heard of it from my friend's seven-year-old twins, and they're also super into Desscendants and Zombies and the other faux-teen Disney franchises.
