Don't do it, Ogged! There's an easier way. Try this:

Get into the Antivirus configuration and click file system realtime protection. Go to the exclusions radio button. Click files/folders on the next panel. Then when the list of folders comes up, go to wherever your spool folder is (it's actually called "spool," something I didn't think they'd do; probably in the folder where you get your mail) and click on it. Your problem will be solved.

What happens is that mail gets spooled before it gets broken down into messages and sorted into mailboxes. If the AV detects a virus in the spool file it will abort the whole download. By excluding the spool file, you delay the virus check until after the stream is broken into separate messages, so the server doesn't get confused and you can get all your mail.

I had the same problem, it drove me crazy, and this fixed it. I'm still virus-free.
