One difficulty with the idea that there is a detailed plan they're just not telling us about is the litany of policy chioces that Friedman cites. It strongly suggests that either there's actually no plan at all, or there's no plan of the kind Friedman envisages.
I agree that it certainly doesn't look good for the administration. But I do hope they have a plan and this article makes it at least plausible that on the decisions Friedman cites, the Cheney-Rumsfeld faction has won but that, on other matters, more reasonable voices have not been entirely stilled. It's impossible to know, and we should have much more information going in, but I do think there are people in the administration considering the post-war situation.
