Nice maps. I like the county one with the purple. If you look at it, you realize that pretty much everything east of the MIssissippi has a lot of purple. West of the Mississippi looks more straight red--and is less populated. Interesting.
I'll bet a map colored to reflect the percentage of each state's population that is African-American would shade roughly the same.
