Re: Roundup

The Canada story is so absurd. It would be equivalent to a mob protection racket if we were charging Canada for the missile defense. "The Ambassador" has the right comic book villain ring to it.

I don't like MattY. He was a war monger for Bush in Iraq, now repeats the Iran nuke-program claims unquestioningly (last I checked, and I *don't* check). It's not just the wars, either.

Anywho, now MattY asks us to use Jonah Goldberg's analysis of the right. JG, of course, is entirely unbiased and a man of the purest moral character.

"anti-state" and "anti-left?"

There are different factions, and Bush is the head of the Christian faction. Other factions include the Libbos, the Xenophobes/"Nativists"(Buchanan,Tancredo,Rohrbacher), old racists and old anti-communists, numerous bamboozled people, and some number of ex-leftists and left-haters.

Is simplification really going to help?

What I really know is that the Christo-Rightists have ascended to primacy within the party. Who is the Sistani of the American Religious Right (for certainly the Taliban and UIA were/are the traditionalist moralizers of their own countries)? That is an interesting question.

Coe? (Nat'l Prayer Breakfasts)

I don't think its Olasky (author of Compassionate Conservatism (2000, forward by GW Bush))

Graham?

Falwell?

Robertson/CBN?

It's not a speciality of mine. Perhaps there is no single leader, and they all have various influence in varying regional and cultural zones.
