Antibiotics or no, I recommend a stiff shot of whiskey at bedtime. Knocks both the germs and the kids right out.
I haven't been taking her to the doctor, because they never do anything for viral infections except what I'm doing now: tylenol, decongestants, lotsa liquids.
Yes, basically, as long as isn't developing a strep infection or something. Personally, I find that aleve does a much better job as a fever reducer than tylenol, since I am prone to running high fevers. (Aspirin is as good, but out for obvious reasons.) You may also want to switch up the decongestants and stuff, to avoid developing a temporary tolerance.
It's pointless to give children antibiotics for viral infections, screws up their guts, and contributes to antibiotic resistance. But, at this point, maybe she has gotten a secondary infection...
Ayup. Hope not. (Kids needs resistance.)

Three days, same kid, same fever -- haul it to the doc. At least they'll culture for strep and eyeball for infections, except now the PTB have decided ear infections should run their course even if they are bacterial. Wouldncha just like to hand every one of 'em an infant shrieking from ear pain?
Oy, nothin' worse than a stuffed-up baby trying to nurse. I had to express and bottle-feed my third kid for a week when she caught the mother of all head colds as an infant. By kid #3 there was just no breathing around me.
We just came off a month of viruses: #1-son brought home the second one as revenge for having had laryngitis with the first one, which he was the last in line for. He normally avoids catching the family colds for some reason... pbly because he's bleedin' anti-social.
Last month my family went through what was either the real flu or the cold from Hell.
Because of the coughing my daughter (8) got tested for pertussis even though she had the vaccination.
The freaking pertussis test cost freaking $400!!
Yeah! And she didn't have it. She did have strep though, which cleared up fast with treatment.
Oh, and so much for the frat-house atmosphere around here. Sorry. Sometimes I have to play a real Daddy. I try to limit it, though.

Almeida, I really hope you and the baby get some rest soon. I know what nights with sick children are like... the first is ok but by night 4 you don't know who to feel more sorry for.
Just before Christmas we did six weeks of 2 children with scarlet fever AND colds with ear ache.
