I don't think that I have a reputation for extraordinary emotional perceptiveness, but I've never asked around. (Of course, if I was really perceptive, I'd already know...)

Well, by virtue of your disdain for Hanks, let's just anoint you emotionally perceptive. Doesn't do much for my argument though.
