Re: Arrival, Of A Sort

the cheat sheet is a bunch of crap though. It doesn't mention fafblog, and the blog it does list as the "funny blog" is not in fact funny. And we all know that Yglesias is a hack who can't spell -- we should all be reading Tom Hilde.

Unfogged was the pornographically minded Yglesias fansite long before Playboy came on the scene.

We were even supposed to have our own pinup girl, but that seems to have been a tease.

I'm guessing that, among the many surprising things that blogging has done for Yglesias, getting him a mention in Playboy has to be the most surprising. Probably helps with the ladies, though.

One more thing. How did the Yglesias-Kaus smackdown fail to merit a mention in this space? This is not only an Yglesias fansite, but an Yglesias fansite run by an avowed Kaus apologist. How could that one pass by without comment?

It was a smackdown about the Davis-Bacon Act. Why didn't the apostropher mention it?

By the way, your use of "apologist" has been noted in the building.

It would have been gratuitous.

I'm a Kaus apologist too! Otherwise I wouldn't argue with him. He's totally wrong about that whole union thing, though. I do, however, heartily recommend his book.

Is that book the End of Equality, which I understand to have been written before Kaus decided his God-given purpose was to be pointlessly annoying?

Are you implying that Hillary Duff and TV's answer to 1930s screwball comedy are on the same level?

He can't still coast on that. That's like recommending the Violent Femmes' eighth album because "Add It Up" rocked. (Note: While in Milwaukee I saw the VF's drummer play an improv-jazz show in a tiny club that was really quite good.)

The Violent Femmes' eighth album is a live set with Add It Up on it.

Kaus still sucks, though.

Probably the Yglesias-shortness rumors were by analogy to Kaus.

"Give Me the Car" is on the same album as "It Does not Mean a Thing If It Does Not Have that Swing," "I am not misbehaving," and "I Want To Be Sedated," right? (Joke courtesy Rlz Chast.)
