How badly do you want to win?

Huh, well, I'll booze it up for a year and keep the nuclear option in my pocket, so to speak.

I get the sense that people in other countries, other cultures, and even other time periods drink/drank a hell of a lot more than we do, on the whole. Whenever I read a novel written in the fifties, for example, the characters are all reaching for the bourbon every two pages. It seems to be much less socially acceptable here, in this day and age, than elsewhere and at other times.

Basically, what I'm saying is, I drink more than most Americans on average, but far less than the average 50's executive, or the average Russian. I'd like there to be a study that commends me for this.

Joe Drymala, are you willing to underwrite one?

No, but I'd be willing to undertake one.

Public service announcement:

A Travis County grand jury today indicted U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on one count of criminal conspiracy, jeopardizing the Sugar Land Republican's leadership role as the second most powerful Texan in Washington, D.C.

The charge, a state jail felony punishable by up to two years incarceration, stems from his role with his political committee, Texans for a Republican Majority, a now-defunct organization that already had been indicted on charges of illegally using corporate money during the 2002 legislative elections.

If the wing is right you must indict.

More soy, but fewer nuts.

And drink in moderation—a beer, some wine, but no highballs.

At what age do you have to start worrying about cholesterol?

(Translation: Cala likes brie. And bacon!)

Cala, I'm afraid that making bacon is precluded by the regimen we're proposing.
