Re: Scooter San

Is it embarrassingly pornographic, as per usual for novels published by Republican political figures?

Well, Amazon's distinctive phrases algorithm turns up assistant headman, tiny dancer, man with the pole, mountain trousers, old samurai.

So that would be a 'yes'.

You have a dirty mind, LB.

LB is right, though I can't remember where I found the evidence.

Maybe it was... in my pants!

It's not possible that "tiny dancer" is unique to Libby's novel.

Saddam Hussein, Lynne Cheney, and several others in politics (Bill O'Reilly? Some of the Watergate folk?) have published romance novels.

Newt! (Not a romance novel, but didn't GIngrich write something embarassing?)

I'm all in favor of encouraging Republicans into putting some wildness into their wilderness. Just think of the titles from the soon-to-be-ousted (please, God, please):

Hott Sexx Tips For Begetting, from Santorum.

Hitting All Bases and Screwing the Timid, from DeLay.

Aim "Straight" At Their Strength, from Rove.

The Snarling Cowboy of Gondor, from Cheney.

Secret-Agent Masochists and the Politicians Who Loved Them, from Tenet.

Oh, the road goes ever forwards!

The Snarling Cowboy of Gondor, from Cheney.

Dude. Mordor.

Maybe, but my point was that Cheney's

Gondor would have taken the Ring, launched an attack on Mordor, and then would have had to fight against a combined force of Orcs and Southrons without any aid from the Elves, Giants, Dwarves, Wizards, Ents, or Hobbits, let alone the Riders of Rohan.

Boromir on crack, man, without any of Wettham's excuses. I'm just trying to figure out who in Middle Earth would have been crazy enough to go along.

(I do recognize your point, though: Cheney's enemy in Iraq, and, oh let me be frank, in Afghanistan, was a fucking watermill compared to Mordor.)

It's supposed to be surprisingly good. Was it Slate that had an article about novels by politicians a while ago?

It's supposed to be surprisingly good.

Considering expectations, this is not necessarily high praise.

No it was this one. How could I forget? Good ol' Jeet Heer.

It's an entertaining article.

Gary weighs in on the "Is Scooter's novel embarrassingly pornographic" question. Turns out the answer is yes.
