I surely haven't commented enough to attend an Unfogged in NYC event, but on the off chance I'm eligible, I'm free all week (NYU law was "gracious" enough to schedule all my exams near Christmas).

Suppose, as I think may be the case for French names (though you would know better, Belgian baker), that "Julie Delpy" has the stresses on the second syllables. Then say "Julie Delpyness" aloud.

Also.

I am in (well near) the city and would be glad to meet you. The Oyster Bar is close by where I work so I could meet for lunch there on a weekday; alternately it's always fun to drink some beers in the evening. One good place to do that, of many, is Druid's on 10th Ave in the 50's.

That's the key. I was recently relieved to recall that w-lfs-n, for example, only knows me as "Ogged" and "real-life nickname." I think for a bigger gathering like NY, I'll stick with "ogged."

Isn't there some theorem about the expected frequency of a w-lfs-n Indiscretion Error (hereafter, WIE) that suggests he will be posting pictures of you shortly? (And wouldn't it be funny if all those pictures we believe to be of w-lfs-n were actually of you?)

I might be able to make drinks after work -- it's just that there's a tendency for emergencies to come up in the afternoon that keep me working late, so while I can make pretty confident lunch dates, I'm unreliable for anything in the evening. Still I'll make an effort to show up for anything.
