Re: Your abortion comments stop my beating heart

Someone once emailed me to ask, "Why are your posts so long?"

Answer: Because.

Besides, it could be Holbo, maybe, possibly.

I (or someone impersonating me) also wish to comment on the fact that I am mentioned in this post.

I figured you wanted me to shut up.

I think "stop my beating heart" is like "take my breath away," it's a good thing. Or, "you" in the post title refers not to you but to us in general. Or Labs is looking for some hook to hang his title on. But I prefer to think that he wants you.

I agree about the Hursthouse; that is definitely a strength, but it's somewhat unsatisfying.

Maybe I should say "I prefer to pretend that he wants you."

Weiner, hate to thwart another one of your perceived budding romances, but I think it's a take on the slogan "Abortion: it stops a beating heart". But you can dream...

No Cala, I think Labs meant that you were awesome on that thread. And he's right!

The Hursthouse piece Fontana recommends is fantastic, and everyone should go read it pronto.

OK, can we be snarky now? The girls were really taking revenge on us for those stupid football games, not that I can blame them.

Seriously, what is with Little Miss Lonely Hearts Matchmaker Weiner these days?

In my experience, guys who try to make matches actually want to bone the women they're trying to set up. This would be in keeping with Weiner's larger chivalrous/horndog project.

Cala, I meant to compliment you. The title is a take-off on that anti-abortion slogan.

Rosalind Hursthouse didn't just comment for real, did she? Of course not. That would be too weird.

Based on your experience, is #14 a clear attempt at a preemptive cockblock, ogged?

We need to blog more about the Janus-faced Weiner: gentleman and cad, hero and villain. Light is the left hand of darkness.

So isn't it likely that the reverse is true? Didn't both your exes try to set you up a while back?

Isn't matchmaking just an attempt to liven things up? Like bookmaking.

How about bookmaking on matchmaking?

In my experience, it usually depends on the status of the matchmaker. The motive can be:

1. If single, an indirect attempt to hook up with the matchmakee.

2. If in a new relationship, "I'm in loooove! Everyone should be in loooove! The world is such a beautiful place! Hearts! Flowers! And whatnot!"

3. If a couple, a realization that all of their friends are single and they have no fun couples to hang out with.

Hehe, sorry Labs. That was just awkward geek me going 'What did I do? Did I offend my pretend internet friends?'

And that would be sad.

Oh yeah. Go Steelers! Pittsburgh 27, Seattle 24.

(For those keeping track in real life, I am aware that Cala has a boyfriend. Also, Go Steelers!)

good point. I regret that the ex did not stay long enough for me to get a reading on any sexual tension between her and the O-man.

how would you feel if you killed your mother, father, or 4 year old child. Well, i am a mother who went through abortion. a 16 year old, raped in station square. i felt that this baby was an "accedient baby". until i read the bible finding out that there is no such thing as an "accedient baby", and when i pondered in shock for days, i couldn't beleive I killed my baby. Rebeca Ann Smithers would have been her name, it has been 1 month since the abortian, and everyday for now on i feel like starting my life all over again. never would i have thought i would be the one getting an abortian. the people outside of the office were screaming in my face calling me a killer. although in reality i am a killer of my own child. a beating heart stopped, a soul had left the room, a life taken. why did i do this, why did it have to be me raped behind that night club. not one drink that night and a 6'3 man rapes me. he is in jail now but it was the worst experience of my life, well the abortian was ofcoarse, i felt like i wanted to vomit, cry, scream, rip out all of my hair. when i go before God he will punish me for my sins although i ask for forgivness everyday. to all of you that want an abortain it may seem like oh just go get it over with and go on with your life, YOU WILL REGRET THIS....TAKE IT FROM SOMEONE WHO MUST LIVE WITH THE THOUGHT OF KILLING HER BABY EVERYDAY. PLEASE DONT I AM BEGING YOU NOT TO DO THIS.
