I actually don't hate Rosenbaum all that much. But he only seems like movies that (a) advance the cause of socialism in our time, (b) were produced in some obscure third world country and (c) can only be seen in the basement of some bar in some extremely sketchy neighborhood.

For some reviewers music = fashion.

Interestingly it's valuable to have a reviewer who is driven to know about little-known music, but it's tiresome to have a reviewer who values music solely by its lack of popular attention.


There's great indie music, but when you get out to the fringe you discover the same thing as in book publishing -- most unpublished material is unpublished because it sucks.
