I got an invitation code sent to me within a few hours of signing up on their notification list. Unfortunately I then discovered that it doesn't yet work with Movable Type or Powerblogs, so it's not much use to many of us yet.
Still, it's an early beta, so it might turn into a good thing eventually.

Seems that way, although it claims to work on typepad hosted blogs, so I'm not sure why.
I just tired it with this comment, and I got a "this blog is not supported yet" message.
Even on supported blogs, it seems like the comment tracking function only lets you know of replies to your post that are posted by other coComment members. I suppose it could be useful just to keep track of where you had posted, though.

By contrast, I find the title / author combination The Bog People, by P.V. Glob" to be quite delightful -- really a masterful use of the same kinds of phonemes.

I dunno. It's blogue in French (but blog is more usual, I think.) blogg in German and Swedish.
Also: Incidentally, the Spanish have their own word for blog. It is bitícora. I suspect, however, that—much like the triumph of marketing over mercadotecnia—blog will soon snuff-out bitícora in the Spanish lexicon for reasons of expediency. Although I admit that my logic is shaky on this point, since expediency isn't necessarily a high-priority in Spanish culture—particularly when urgent plumbing repairs are needed.

While there, I had an internship with Amnesty International, and I tried to convince them to start a blog about human rights. They thought I was gringo nutso.
For this reason (among others) I now deem Human Wrights Watch as the superior defender of the masses.

The invites aren't gmail style - you can't spread them around. But if you sign up on their web page, you might just get one in a day or so like JO and me.
In Brussels, the EU Ministry of Technologie reacted with alarm to this proliferation of 'blog' terms unique to each country, especially after they learned that the Poles intended to call them "gzybrgrlz". The EU has consequently appointed a commission to draft a plan to hold a meeting to prepare an agenda. Officials are hopeful that a single, Europe-wide standard term can be introduced in time for the 2104 Olympics.
