Re: Boston Meetup Organization Thread

An initial suggestion -- how would people feel about the evening of April 4th or 5th? Same place as before (the Burren in Davis Sq.)?

Being the annoyingly devout Christian that I am, I can't do Thursday the 5th. It's Maundy Thursday, and I will be off getting my feet washed and stripping the altar.

Wednesday the 4th would probably work. My schedule varies a lot. Tuesdays before 8 are a bit of a challenge.

I guess the 4th is out for mcmc? But I do like her suggestion of Miracle of Science, and there are some other places that might work equally well around there (Asgard, or some Central Sq. spots) if MoS is too crowded.

So what about something the following week, the 9th-13th? I can't do the 10th (Tuesday), but other than that...

Yes, the week after I can do Monday or Thursday, and I think Tuesday.

Holy week is bad for me.

I've just realized that Sally's soccer program starts on Holy Saturday; we're going to be out of town visiting Buck's family for Easter. You devout people -- I can call the program and safely say that no one Catholic is likely to show, right?

Being the annoying heathen I am, I have to ask which week is Holy Week?

Leading up to Easter, April 8th this year.

So what about the 9th or the 12th? Monday or Thursday of the week following Easter. That wouldn't be Holy Week, right?

And not to disrupt the Boston planning session, but speaking of meetups, have we decided on a bar for the NY meetup? Can we do that before I go dark on Wednesday?

I'll throw in a vote for the 12th over the 9th, as I'll be driving back from a wedding on the 9th.

6 - I don't think there's any prohibition against practicing soccer on Holy Saturday. People traveling for Easter won't show; probably most everyone else will.

Come to think of it, I suppose they wouldn't be going to Mass, would they. Crap. I do think that it's enough of a travel holiday that it's silly to schedule soccer practice for it.

I ran the cost-benefit analysis and decided eternal salvation didn't measure up to having my Sunday mornings free. Your mileage may vary.

Is mrh coming? I'm supposed to mail him w-lfs-n's CD. If he's coming it might be easier to to bring it there.

Brock--which one do you have? I'll burn a copy of mine for you if you'll do one for me. I have the autmn cd--the one with Tim Buckley and an Eno/Cale song, and I forget what else.

Brock,

Do you want to e-mail me or arthegall to get cell phone numbers so that we can make sure that you don't get lost?

Central is probably the closest T stop, and also the easiest to navigate from. Go to central, and walk south (towards MIT and the river) on Mass Ave. Miracle of Science will be a couple of blocks down on the left.

You should all go to Tosci's for ice cream, if you're getting off the T in Central Square. That place is what I really miss about Boston.

PS- I can't yet commit to be there. We're talking like three weeks away, right? For all I know I could be in France in three weeks. But for now the day/time/place sound fine.

I'll be sure to get someone's phone number this time.

6pm at Miracle. If Brock ends up not being able to make it, then maybe he gets to schedule the next one to fit his own schedule.

We will meet you one day, Mysterious Mr. Landers!
