If your dissertation director (dissertation director = PI = advisor?) is anything like mine was, hungover was how it would seem even without any drinking the night before. Ripshit, but quietly, drunk was the optimal status for such occasions.
He and I are good at drinking together, but we're in the middle of a minor cold war. Luckily, another faculty member and her bf will also be there. I'm unsure about the date situation; DD seems a lot happier when I have a bf, but I obviously can't do that anymore, at least not now, and especially not merely to make him more comfortable.

But let me get back to you on it. I'm still working on that show, but it's scheduled for farther into the future, but I still want to come out this spring, so I'll find a weekend in May that'll work for my friend who doesn't know yet that he's hosting me.
That weekend is getting crazy busy - I've got this and a cousin in town on Friday, and then a wedding in DC on Saturday. No chance you're driving back Sat morning, is there?

Hey, oddly, the wife and I will be in NYC that weekend for a wedding. It's not inconceivable that I could finally get to meet some of you New York people.
My best friend from college now occupies a rent-controlled apartment in Chelsea--I mean, right there on 24th Street, right about what's just about the only pub around--and he pays seven. hundred. dollars. a month.
