Re: Realization from antproofcoffee shop

I think someone already invented Nouvelle Vague, ben.

Did you? Could you really explain that? Can anyone?

We're treading on deep waters, my friend, and only one of us can be Jesus.

Thanks -- the tail end of my old mp3 of "Talk Show Host" is screwed up, yet it didn't seem worth the trouble to track down a better one.

Your posts are a pale imitation of Chun the Unavoidable.

If past performance is any indication of future results, then yes, i.e., yes, in that I already did explain it, so it stands to reason that I explained it, and could explain it again.

You can be Jesus. I want to be Aqua-Man if we're treading in deep waters.

Oh, right, of course. We're actually treading in only so much water as we're immersed in, and the water below it is that upon which we tread. Will you use this prepositional insight to challenge the commonly-held perception of Jesus as non-amphibian?

Since America is a Christian democracy, can't anyone grow up to be Jesus?

But the very fact that you postulate and give a name to Chun, Adam, proves that you're referring to something aside from the individual posts themselves. I refer you to the A Deduction of the Categories. Or maybe I mean the First Analogy.

Chun was not exhausted by his posts, for what the individual posts did not contain was that they were precisely Chun's posts.

Adam can't adduce that in his favor, Clown, since that "posted by" refers to an extrapostly entity.

I don't think you can really argue that the "posted by" line is not a part of the post.

I have a co-worker who's been saying for a couple of weeks that the Warriors have a shot to beat the Mavs. I asked him if he wanted to bet, and he said "I'm not stupid." Anyway, it's at least an interesting matchup.

It's fine. It's not fine, okay, sure, but it will be fine by game 2—Dallas will but the big lineup back in. They won, like, 84975 games this season with that lineup, and I don't know what motivated AJ to change it up for Golden State.

44: I have come to realize that Lakers fans are the worst. It was a close game against a team that many people expect to win the Finals. This when two of the four most important Lakers are playing with injuries, another is playing his way into shape after coming off of an injury, and yet another of the top seven or eight players remains injured and (I think) unable to play. So four of eight are not quite right. If they're healthy next year, I would take the Lakers against anyone but Houston and, maybe, Dallas. They're a lot closer to the team everyone was excited by at the beginning of the year than the team of the second half of the season. What they really need is a point guard who can play good defense on quick guards.

(And the reason: Kwame! (Actually, it's Odom. And a little bit Kwame.))

45: That's a great story, ogged. Any other potential bets that didn't come off?

Another NBA note that's been on my mind: everyone points to Stoudamire as a microfracture surgery success story, and it's true to a point, but someone should note that he's lost quite a bit of lift, and when he's not playing with Nash anymore and not getting a dunk every other time down the court, his numbers will drop a lot (even more than you'd expect, yadda yadda).

I tried some okra in the garden two years ago but it was a bad year for okra here in NC (everyone I knew with okra that year couldn't get it to make worth a damn) and I never got anything but wimpy little stalks that died too soon. OK, now I'm sitting online talking about okra when I should be in bed and that's just stupid.
