OT OT: Katherine: what did you think about the Senate hearing on habeas recently? I'm worried that the Dems are trying to psych themselves that the MCA will be struck down in part by the SCOTUS, so they don't have to pass any unpleasant "terrorist rights" bills (because, of course, "person" in the Constitution is to be understood in its original, pre-terrorist sense).
As for Matt Y. trying to kid himself that his DLC gear will raise fewer eyebrows in Republicanland, I think he'd have about as much luck explaining that he's a Communist, but a Trotskyite Communist ...
didn't see it....I seriously worked harder for the last 2 weeks than I ever have in my life. (I have a week off now).
I see that Levin got a bill through Armed Services (which is a lousy committee--Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson ) but I don't really know what it says. I'm somewhat ambivalent about Levin on these issues.

Now that Memorial Day's over, I was thinking of commenting on the original Chicago meetup thread to attract "recent comments" attention and then maybe ask to have it put back up top for a bit. We need to start by deciding if midweek might not be better.
