You've brought her this far, Ogged. Now let us take care of her. Go on, go on now.

You didn't notice this odor collection going on in The Lives of Others? It seems odd that you're posting about it now rather than in the thread for that movie.

You posted this, rather than Lucy Mangan writing about sex?

Maybe someone should post a comment that refers to the topic of the post rather than just bad-mouthing Oggers.

Nubiles. Do not get sick. Too bad too few of us are nubile any longer.

I don't get the title. I thought it might be the punchline to the joke that in another version ends: "mmmmmMavis!", but probably not.

Clarice is my not-at-all-nubile second cousin by marriage.

6 implies a certain analogy between Ogged and a certain former host of the Daily Show. Which, I admit, is how I've always imagined him (albeit with darker hair).

re: 9

It's a film reference. Best enjoyed with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

(actually you have to iterate "by marriage" twice to get her to be a cousin of mine -- does "by marriage" encompass multiple iterations?)

Silence of the lambs, presumably. That garuniad bit about sex is pretty horrific, but I'm mildly intrigued by the complaining about how sex is too much of a pain in the ass for straight women these days over at AWB's blog. Afraid to jump in there, as it seems a bit personal, and "welcome to a man's world" seems a bit inappropriate.

15 - yes, that blog entry bugs me, and I have no idea how to respond to it. The message seems to be "The media told us that all men wanted was sex sex sex with no nuances, and on the occasions when that's what I want, it turns out that men aren't actually like that." Doesn't sound like a big problem to me.

Nubile just means fertile. A fat ugly 40-year old lady can be nubile.

Even an old man who comments from Minnesota could be nubile.

I do think that only chicks are nubile. I'll have to check.

OT:

Look at this poll on impeachment.

It appears that Nancy Pelosi is out of step with the American public--but the person in step with the public is Dennis Kucinich.

nubile: "marriageable" (said of a woman), from Fr. nubile, from L. nubilis "marriageable," from stem of nubere "take as husband." First used 1973 in sense of "sexually attractive."

I don't think that "Bring out the gimp" connotes what the Guardian writer thinks it connotes. Perhaps I'm too staid.

So a fat ugly fertile single or divorced fertile woman would be nubile.

In entomology "nubile" just means "fertile", I think. Ant's don't have marriage, do they?

the Guardian writer

That's Lucy Mangan, and you're commenting at her official fansite, buddy. I think she means "bring out the gimp" as "let's do dirty foribidden stuff," which makes sense, both generally and in context.
