Oh, so that's why they sent, you know, Jose Padilla and Ali Al-Marri (the guy who was arrested in Peoria on credit card fraud, declared an enemy combatant, and shipped off) to the brig in South Carolina. Very smart.

The crazy-ass base is his only hope of being fondly remembered and thus he will try vigorously to appease it for the duration of his term. It doesn't hurt that his only real goal anymore seems to be shitting in any remaining unsullied corners of the White House and that by throwing red meat to the fringe now he might placate them and thus take some pressure off the current candidates.

I thought only members of parliaments (or the equivalent) could make nominations for the Peace Prize?

Technically, I don't think you *can* make nominations for it, full stop. Anyone who claims to have done is bullshitting.

3: Also people who have themselves been awarded the prize, and (relevant in the Limbaugh case, I'm guessing) just about any university professor other than math and science faculty.

who would evidently put Rush Limbaugh in the same great leader category as ... Mother Teresa

I don't think the author read the recent Mother Teresa post.

Who would put Rush Limbaugh in the same great leader category as Mother Teresa, Yasser Arafat and Henry Kissinger?

They also feel that the president owes them a last parting gift of a hugely conservative federal bench

Which is only fair, seeing as how he has avoided pandering to them overmuch these past 6 years.
