The first album cover, anyway, is a woodcut by Erhard Schon depicting the Devil playing the head of a monk like a bagpipe. More generally, medieval bagpipes were sometimes decorated to look like heads.

I think that there's a farting bagpipe somewhere in the Hieronymus Bosch zone, but GoogleImage doesn't call it up.
