Re: More mixy business

It is a glitch mix . . .

I'm not familiar with the term "glitch mix," is that a term of art, or does it just mean that something went wrong with it?

Thanks. I am clearly not up to date.

I love me some glitch/microhouse. Yeah. I'd like to have one of these.

I'd love to listen to the glitch mix. Can we skip this CD nonsense and just share digital music the way God intended?

5: Yeah, I have mixes I could throw in, but sadly am far too broke to mail them.

How much do you think it costs to mail a CD?

Yeah, I was wondering about the CDness of this whole thing. That's why I've ignored it all as some enthusiasts' throwback or something.

It's called fun, ogged. You too could have fun if you'd just trust any of us with your address. And credit card number.

How much do you think it costs to have two kids in diapers and daycare? I'm not being hyperbolic; there isn't a penny of wiggle room in my budget until the summer.

You could just wrap the CDs in dirty diapers and send 'em all to Ben to mail.

Some people like CDs.

I also like the fact that it makes it slightly less anonymous. You're getting a physical object that someone else mailed to you, that'd different from just downloading files.

Regarding the CDness. I like the concept and all, but I'm in the UK, I'm a poor student etc. MP3 baby.

Well, I'm an enthusiast, but I can't speak for anyone else.

Furthermore, let me add I'm not against people trading CDs. Indeed it is a nice touch.

W.Breeze, it does not matter that you're poor in the UK. In Unfogged mix CD swap, CD comes to you!

(provided supplier is willing to pay international postage, which admittedly is hardly a guarantee)

If you want to provide something, mp3s are always welcome.

If anyone is willing to mail me cassette tapes, I'll email you back with my address...

It's nice to get something physical in the mail; the fact that you're sending an object around also allows you to do more expressive (some would say fetishistic) stuff. I like trying to come up with case designs that my limited abilities will actually be able to realize nearly as much as making the mixes. (eg.)

Also, since you're sending around lossless stuff, it's more forgiving of editing---no need to reëncode or transcode or anything like that, if you're starting from lossy files.

Volume is not overwhelming-- maybe my tastes are unpopular, but so far I'll be posting 5 envelopes. I like the exchange too-- a set of mp3s seems fungible, I'm pretty unlikely to listen to the whole thing, the provenance gets lost when I turn off the computer.

I think I prefer the idea of sending people actual CDs (because I, too, enjoy the whole fetishistic-embellishment thing), but I do think it would be neat if we could also have a digital option. If for some reason you'd prefer a digital copy to a CD, feel free to email me & we can work out a downloading situation.

i got 3 addresses,
the addressees expect cds shortly
though shortly could take like a week, sorry
q1. so what is better, audio files or mp3?
q2. if one wishes to send a cd to a person, but the person does not display interest in getting the cd
how to retrieve the address of the potential addressee not addressing Ben w-lfs-n
who says he won't be an intermediate out of malice something
sending an e-mail saying i want to send you a cd, give your address or else :) would sound like agressive i suppose

We really should set up a top secret drop-box for ogged with a special place and time known only to select posters. His paranoia should be no excuse for avoiding all the delights of the commentariat.
