I hear you sister. This is why I hate to travel; it's also why I'm ambivalent about weekends, but that's going a bit far.

That said, a few things work really well for me when I'm crashing: toast and peanut butter, or a nut bar, or some bread with a bit of cheese. Basically some carbs and some fatty protein. I'm also a fan of soy milk, but regular (whole) milk can be satisfying if you're not lactose intolerant.

And right this very minute I'm about to have my late-afternoon snack of a nut bar and yogurt (soy).

Greek yogurt with honey, unless you're lactose intolerant, in which case, God hates you.

I just can't get over the texture of Greek yogurt. Yogurt should be pourable.

I used to make my own yogurt, back before I got lazy.

I know exactly how you feel, Beck.

My cube neighbors look at me askance when I throw on my jacket at 9:30 and come back with my massive 10 am burrito, but fuck 'em. I'm not used to breakfast by this point and I'm damned if I'll wake up early enough to eat it and still get into work by 8.

I'm lucky enough to be a generally hungry person though, and my coworkers tend to have lunch later, so I just eat with them around 12:30-1 and them am fine until I get home.

But regarding crashing: this sounds stupid, but I just discovered energy bars. So great. So necessary at 4:30. They're one of those things that I clearly knew existed, but that just had never quite entered my reality such that I would have thought to buy one.

Sure, but it totally blows my entire lunch budget for the month in just a day or two.

IME, people in DC show up at work freakishly early. I think many of them get caught in a vicious circle of leaving earlier for work to avoid the traffic, then encountering all the other people trying to avoid the traffic, etc. I also suspect DC workers don't do enough drugs, a problem that also contributes to early rising.

BANANAS! Like tennis players. Washed down with coffee. Unlike tennis players, who prefer nandrolone.

same here. I am most comfortable waking up around 9 AM and then eating something about a half hour later. If forced to wake up at 7 AM, I always want to eat something a half hour after getting up. but then I'm hungry again at 9:30 AM, and feel resentful that I have to eat two breakfasts.

also, it requires either melatonin pills or hard physical labor to get me to feel at all tired before 1 AM.

14 - I think it's half the traffic and half that I'm working with a lot more "family age" people who want to get home early to see their kids.

I'm all over the protein/carbs thing, like a granola bar with peanut butter or strawberries and string cheese (two actual snacks I had today). It just doesn't stick with me as much during the day, although I'm less hungry at night.

So weird.

Sleeping until 8 on a regular basis is just mind-boggling. But then you probably find going to bed at 9 or 10 mind-boggling. Different strokes.

My sleep pattern is totally fucked. I have trouble sleeping until 8 even if I want to. I occasionally get up at 4:30 after five hours sleep and then take a nap at 10:00. For me, this is by far the worst thing about aging -- along with never feeling quite rested and totally alert, which is related. Do your shit while you're young, kiddies, because your body goes out on you.

Today's eating schedule:

Cereal and coffee at 11am.
(shower, etc., commute 2 hours)
Inari sushi roll at 2:30pm.
(teach 1.5 hours)
Small coffee at 5:30pm
(teach 3 hours, commute)
Whatever the hell I can get my hands on at 10:30 pm
(tonight, spaghetti)

I hate my schedule.

Who can get it up without chemicals?

I can, but caffeine helps.

I'm also a fan of soy milk
i drink soy milk in the morning, it's so good for my bowel movement, i almost like feel how my insides are so so very clean after drinking it
i eat lunch at cafeteria whatever i like, and in the evening a sandwich and a yogurt or a fruit
i'm eating a pear now btw
i eat all kinds of fast food and my weight stays the same, but should exercise and i'm lazy
JE, may be you can try to eat a banana before sleep, have a sun bath in the morning and ban daytime naps, sleep well all

19: Kid time, mostly, or just getting older. I've always tended to get up on the earlt side, but now I hardly even know how to sleep late anymore (late meaning after 7:30 or so).

20 is a lie. I still sleep until noon whenever I get a chance (3 pm the weekend before last, if I remember properly). But during the week I have to get up before fucking 7 because I have to get the kid to school.

Basically you just get used to having a wonky schedule and irregular eating habits. Butch up, people.
