I watch Unfogged for your every post, alameida. You're a hell of a writer even when you're so sick. A very merry Christmas and renewed health to you.

A two-week fever? Cripes. (Euphemism in honor of the holiday season.) That is medieval in its horror, if not Lovecraftian, though I who write that have compared common colds to durance vile and the suffering of the early martyrs. (A phlegmy Flippanter is a shameless Flippanter.) Don't let them bleed you.

Also, I had been laboring under the impression that the essential purpose of money was to make it easier to avoid and flee one's family.

Merry Cripesmas!

Being sick is such a drag and being sick for Christmas is worse, especially if you are super invested in making Christmas Christmassy. Good physical stand-in for your sister's present, though, well done you.

7: he's a ginger, man! it has finally occurred to me that part of the reason my sis is going to such trouble to have a biological child when her genes are fucked up and the fetus will need to be borne by a surrogate because her ehlers-danlos means she can't survive pregnancy, is that she intends to fulfill her father's dream of having another son directly descended from the last general to surrender during the cilvil war (they were all named after him, just a series of juniors and seniors). I will have to tell her it's ok to name the baby after her dad otherwise she will feel mean making my pay to create this child in his honor. funny that I never thought of it before but it came to me in a flash that this was the point. oh well he will be a new person, hopefully not so likely the type to betray everyone to the white witch in exchange for turkish delight, or be a shithead abusive asshole. he could be nice even! maybe even my stepfather could have been a nice person if he hadn't been raised by a vicious sadist.

my sister's kind of got a thing for nazis; remember all that reƫanctment stuff? I have seen her boyfriends, trust me on this. her sperm donor is going to be a 6'2" blond guy with blue eyes. no, more likely green like her dad. hmm, and dark hair so as to totally resemble her dad? that's iffy, but what the fuck.

If some other Confederate general wanders out of the hills intending to give up the noble cause, she'll either have to have his baby or kill him before the Union troops arrive.

the latter, I think. general ed/mund kir/by-smith was the last to surrender only because he was so far west (almost or even in texas?) that he didn't know the war was over, not because he was particularly noble. nonetheless my sis has got mad status in the daughters of the confederacy. should she want it, which she shouldn't, because hoo boy are they a bunch of racisty-racist racists. gen. k/irby-smith appears, in fact, to have absconded with the remaining payroll (in gold) to mexico, though this is not widely bruited about.
looking at his wikipedia entry I see this is interesting: "Alexander H. Darnes (1840 - February 11, 1894) was an African American born into slavery in the same home as Smith in St. Augustine, Florida. Darnes was the son of Violent Pinkney, a black slave owned by Smith's parents. He served as Smith's personal valet starting from 1855 and continuing throughout the Civil War after which he would go on to medical school and became one of the first black physicians in the state of Florida."
all the pinkneys I know are white, fancy that. also, naming your slave violent seems a bit risky.

He was distraught; he didn't know what he was doing/He was a cunt who should have split it with his men, who god knows, were stuck with confederate dollars. Delete as appropriate, but it's funny as hell.

al, I'm sorry you're poorly for christmas - hope you're better soon. One year when I was about 10 I sat down in front of a plate of roast dinosaur, said, "I'm sorry, I don't feel very well", and tottered off to have measles. It's a bitch. MINNEAPOLIS, December 24, 2023: Seven people were detained today as they left the Free Speech Guarantee Zone in front of the new Pat Tillman Federal Building. As required under the terms of the Effective Law Enforcement Federal ANti-Terrorism (ELEFANT) Act of 2015, their names, dates of birth, employers and home addresses are listed at the end of this article. The arrested individuals were held under the portion of the ELEFANT Act which mandates groups of three or more individuals for political purposes and not occuring under the auspices of the Democratic or Republican Parties, while legal, are probably cause for detention for at least 96 hours. Minneapolis Police Department spokesman Lt. Mike Anderson stated that the demonstrators were cooperating with police interrogators in listing all of their known associates and their political views. The purpose and content of the demonstration cannot be made public, although Anderson stated that two of the individuals detained would be held indefinitely for "statements likely to harm the reputation and effectiveness of the police." Anderson would not comment on whether those two detainees would be removed to Camp Foxtrot in Puerto Rico for enhanced interrogation, citing legal requirements that seals such information for 10 years. "People should remember that the FSGS is designated as such to allow single individuals to embrace their First Amendment rights," said Anderson, "at only 8 by 9 feet, use of the FSGS by larger groups presents a significant risk of health and safety violations." As mandated by the Peace Officer Safety and Privacy amendment to the ELEFANT Act, this paper reminds its readers that printed or electronic dissemination of the contents of this article is strictly controlled, and individuals or groups who abuse their free speech rights in this regard may be held indefinitely on suspicion of violating the Act.

It's only human to want to put together a fantastic holiday for your kids, I'm saying, but what lives on in memory as "fantastic" can be a single moment.

oh wow, those are beautiful! I love children's books illustrations, I should check them out more. all the white pinkneys I know are immodestly proud of it (likewise ravenels, jeffersons, lees etc.); do african-americans ever get genealogically interested in having been owned by (and certainly being descended from) the fiiiinest families in the nation or is it just all an undifferentiated "a bunch of southern bastards"?because there could be a "daughters of the innocent victims of the conferedacy" or something. I guess there's the jefferson graveyard thing. I'd like to see some black people start demanding to get buried in that pinkney cemetery outside charleston, those'd be good times.

Nearly everyone is compelled to comment in some way to Jammies. You can tell a mile away, because there's a long pause and you can see that the person is trying to figure out how to phrase a question, or at least change the topic and has a definite topic in mind, and it's usually "So how exactly did you end up with the name Jamaal?" But other times we get "Whoa, you're white!" or variations on that.
