Hamilkins are Hamilton furries? (Or Hamilton cosplayers, I guess?)

No need to answer. You've done enough already.

Hannibal Hamkin was Linkin's first Vice President.

I Googled it. Really a lot less disturbing than I expected. It's just people who think they're the reincarnation of characters from Hamilton. (Not the historical persons; the characters from the musical.)
It's just a phase kids go through. I knew a chap at college who spent most of his first Michaelmas Term insisting he was the Duke of Plaza-Toro.

Buzzfeed quizzes are antisemitic. I'm taking one now and it wouldn't accept "oh my g_d" when the answer was supposed to be "oh my god".

Definitely related because Buzzfeed and Tumblr are both full of confusing young people.

It means you need to live right or you come back as Roy Moore.

I just read a post (or something) on something called "Fictionkin" that says "Are Hamilkin Factkin?" and then is followed by opnions from people abou whether or not they are.

It's a brave new world.

I thought so as well. (Because I'm an idiot, I read it, clicked away, and then ten minutes later thought "Wait, religion, Guardian?" and looked back to see who it was by, and confirmed that it was nworB. I'm terrible about reading by-lines.)

I haven't read nworb's yet. I'm in the middle of my walk circling the east end of Pittsburgh. I just stopped for a couple of beers to make the last five miles easier.

This post makes me miss my pre-election life, back when I could get upset about things on tumblr. There was a time when I would have had, like, a nuanced opinion about why people believe all this "kin" stuff and how it relates to the culture of online social justice, queer and gaming communities, and now I just don't care.

(I know, the pseud was stolen from metafilter) I will look up the NYT piece. Thanks. The little shit quoted anonymously in the piece has completely disappeared off twitter. I hope to see him at a reception later this month.

Neo-ekranoplanism.

The Soviet era's enigmatic wing-in-ground-effect (WIG) "ekranoplans" are set to make a comeback according to various Russian media reports. In particular, a massive 600 ton design that is intended to carry out resupply and search and rescue missions in the Arctic is said to be in development, with flight testing planned for sometime in 2022 or 2023.
