I thought the site was regularly moving commets older than, say, two weeks to static pages. Was that wrong?

Dumb MT/site question: Is there enough caching of state that if ten people reload a comment page while it has 235 comments, it doesn't have to generate the page ten times? If not, could there be?

Nathan, that's how it used to be, but with the fancy new server, we thought we'd try it with all the comments loaded in the database. We're not even sure that that's the problem, but things are often slow when there's even moderate commenting, so it's not unlikely. We'll probably go back to moving comments to static pages.

Comment pages are rebuilt only when you post a comment, otherwise you get a static page.
